North Korean minister threatens the US

NORTH KOREA USA | 12 de octubre de 2017

Seoul, Oct. 12 (efe-epa) - North Korea's foreign minister Thursday said his country would "shower fire" on the United States in response to threats by the US president.

Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho made his remarks during a meeting with a delegation of the Russian news agency TASS, the North Korean state news agency KCNA reported Thursday.

"It is the steadfast will of all the service personnel and people of the DPRK to shower fire on the US," Ri said, according to a statement reported by KCNA.

Ri also said that North Korea's nuclear program is the "precious fruition of the Korean people's bloody struggle for defending the destiny and sovereignty of the country from the protracted nuclear threat of the US imperialists and a treasured sword of justice."

The North Korean foreign minister attended the regular session of the United Nations General Assembly in September, in which US President Donald Trump threatened in his speech to "totally destroy" North Korea over its weapons programs, including the Sep 3 nuclear test.

Pyongyang's repeated weapons tests have escalated tensions on the Korean peninsula and worsened the verbal war between Washington and Pyongyang over the last year.

The delegation of Russian journalists was visiting Pyongyang shortly after a group of Russian MPs traveled to North Korea.

The North Korean authorities were reported to have told one of the delegates that they were preparing the next test launch, with a new intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the west coast of the US.

According to experts, Pyongyang could launch its new missile either on Oct 18, coinciding with the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, or between Nov 2 and 14, during which Trump is set to visit the region.
