Luis Abinader announces measures he will take to recoup Dominican Republic economy

The newly sworn president of the Republic, Luis Abinader, announced several economic measures that will be implemented in the country with the priority of creating the conditions to recover production and employment using all the mechanisms at his disposal to achieve that goal.

In this context, it announced that it will implement a Guarantees and Financing program aimed at the sectors affected by the pandemic by more than 100 billion pesos and will initiate a repair and construction plan that will impact more than 30,000 homes to revive local economies across the country. It will encourage the Reserve Bank to prioritize tourism, industrial and export projects that create jobs and are halted by lack of financing. It will also present next Monday 24 the Tourism Relaunch Plan with the aim of boosting it and recovering the pre-pandemic visitor influx. Luis Abinader announced that he will have, through the Agricultural Bank, 5 billion pesos of zero interest rate financing for the new planting, and will support marketing and technical assistance to ensure food security.
